URL Links Damaged in Email Output

Jim et al -

For quite some time I've had to copy/paste links from Stamp Forum email messages into·the browser's address area on my computer. I've had to do this because the URL links were damaged. Phil (PhiPi) was kind enough to look at the problem and has the following analysis:

quote

The forum mailer *should* be either converting dotNetBB tags to <angle-bracketed> HTML tags, so the links and special formatting appear correctly in the emails, or deleting them entirely; but it's not doing either one. In either case, the recipient should never see [square-bracketed] tags at all.

end quote

Phil originally mentioned that it might have something to do with the fact I am using Internet Explorer, but I fail to see why that should be an issue, and if it is, please let me know, and I'll contact Microsoft with this problem.

Thanks in advance for anything that can be done to change this situation.

Thanks to Phil as well!

Regards,

Bruce Bates

In a somewhat-related story, I have noticed that links I paste after clicking "Quick Reply" do not get recognized as html, and require copying & pasting. But if I use "Post Reply" instead, links are properly recognized, show up in blue, and work correctly.

    erco,

It sounds like you might be using Internet Explorer. For IE users, the "Post Reply" box includes additional editing features that aren't available in "Quick Reply" or to non-Microsoft browsers. One of those capabilities may be a means to paste links without having to type the enclosing [url] and [/url] tags. Since I use Opera, I always have to enter the tags by hand, regardless of which reply form I use. And in both cases — assuming I didn't make any typos — the links behave correctly.
