proto board vga port

I got my proto board put together, and have used the keyboard on it. I would like to try the vga but am not confident in my skills to try it. I dont have any monitors right now, I only have my 32 inch tv and dont want to burn it up or something.

Could somebody tell me how to check to make sure i dont have any shorts or anything?

    Well, I don't see any way you could possibly hurt your tv by connecting it to the prop with a video cable (for short periods of time anyway).

    Most TVs have a composite input, you could try that with the appropriate interface and software. You are very unlikely to damage it if you do something silly.
