new display resolution disappeared the SX-Sim command dialog
I have a) already done a search for the issue, and found nothing.
and
b) have changed the resolution of my display, and found that subsequently the "command" dialog is only on the taskbar and never appears in the display as a dialog after single or double-clicking, also, the SX-Sim application never appears as an intermediate size, it can only be minimized and maximized. Because the command dialog never displays, I can't get to the I/O entry dialog.
I have reverted to my original resolution and un/re-installed the SX-key application, and the problem remains.
I am running XP SP 2.
Is this a problem anyone can give me a lead on fixing?
Thank you, Tom Perkins

In general the problem is that the SX-Key is really 3 programs in one IDE. There is the Cross-Assembler, the Debug, and SX-Sym. Since different programs have depended on different knowledge and resources available [to the programmers responisble for each], the BOXes are all set up to standard WindowsXP defaults. But· the fonts within the box respond differently to GUI format changes due to different compilations, the result is some information gets clipped and cannot be seen when you go to none standard display configurations.
The general solution is to stay with the defaults that work. You might get SX-Key to work properly with special configurations, but find that other support software [such as your Anti-virus and Firewall] are not working properly for the same reason. I had similar problems with a Spam Blocker and an Anti-virus program from seperate vendors.
Your WindowsXP system might need further automatic updates or you may need to run a repair of it. First run a complete check for virus attacks and clean those up if there are any.· There is always an outside chance that you had something hit your system that corrupted the WindowsXP on the harddrive, like a power surge or a sever thump to the hard drive [occurs more with a laptop].

once you load and simulate a LST file with SXSim, it stores various configuration data related to the simulation session in an associated .SIM file, i.e. when you simulate TEST.LST, you will later find TEST.SIM in the same folder where TEST.LST is located. Among other information, the SIM file also contains the current window positions and sizes when you terminate a simulation. When you re-load the same LST file later, SXSim retrieves the last session information from the SIM file, and among other things, it also re-positions, and re-sizes the windows. This may end up in chaos when you have changed the screen resolution in the meantime.
Normally, this can by fixed by simply deleting the SIM file. In this case, SXSim opens all windows with the default positions and sizes which will fit into any resolution equal or better than 800 x 600.
So, before hunting for virusses on your PC, try this one first

Greetings from Germany,

Several days ago I went into the Registry and deleted everything to do with SX-Key or SXSim.
On re-installing the problem is gone.
I thank you very much for your advice, and I will try Guenther's approach (if I remember it by then), in the future.
Yours, Tom Perkins
the only information SXSim stores in the registry is the last LST file name used to make the "Open Last" button operate. All other information is stored in .SIM files, as I had described in my last post. You can always delete them to open the associated LST files in the default environment the next time. So, usually, there is no need to touch the registry regarding SXSim.
