PLX DAQ - Excel 03 - Windows Vista

Hello all.

I'm having problems with the PLX DAQ, on Excel 03 and windows Vista Busines, I have used Plx Daq on my old computer but since I chaged my computer it show a message: "Could not load an object because it is not avaliable on this machine"· after clicking on OK it gives me the possibility to debug, thans I have the folowing:

I really don't know what to do..

Also Stamp plot lite and Stamp plot are not working..


Is there any setting that I should do ?


Deatail :· This computer is an lap top without serial com,·· I'm using usb to serial adapter !


Any help will be very appreciable..

Are the drivers for the USB to Serial adapter properly installed? have you tried the adaptor with something else to prove its not the problem?

I used that with the BASIC Stamp Editor v2.3.9, and that worked perfectly, the debug terminal also !

Did you install the PLX-DAQ software and simply not copy over the xls file? Also, some other have reported that it's a Vista permission problem. Try installing as the Administrator if you haven't yet.

I even donwload again and installed that over and over ! No good luck !

Well, since no one piped up with a solution, I'll try to hunt down a Vista/2003 computer to try and debug/fix the code or installer. Might be a wekk or so, so don't expect any fast turn arounds.

FYI for debugging this - I'm using PLX DAQ on a Vista machine, with Excel 2007, with a BS2 OED module through a Parallax serial/usb converter. I'm using an Administrator account on the Vista machine. That all works just fine.

Thanks sylvie, there's been a couple posts by people with issues, but glad to know yours works. It may simply need to have the installer updated.

Hi, it sounds as though the ocx is not registered, you can manually register (as an administrator) Start--->Run--->regsvr32· selmadaq_ver2.ocx. Even is the library is registered this wont harm and it might fix the problem.

Well durn, since my last post for the heck of it I unregistered the selmadaq.ocx I have on my machine (although Win XP) and got the exact same symptoms you described in your first post, even went to the same line in the debug window.·I was convinced it would work for you, sorry. It would be·nice to find out exactly what the problem is, good luck.

When I run : Start--->Run--->regsvr32 selmadaq_ver2.ocx.

it came up with " DllRegisterServer in selmadaq_ver2.ocx succeeded. Witch I suppose is what it should do ... but when I run it , still nope !

as I mentioned Stamp Plot lite and Stamp plot , are not running also, I have no updates remaining for Win Vista. I'm thinking about re-intalling Office 2003 but it seems worthless !


tks all anyway , if someone came up with any test I'll aprecciate, is important for me that at least plxDaq , works

For those with PLX-DAQ / Vista issues, I made some modifications to the installer, and according to user Amaral it appears to be fully functional (after 5·attempts - Thanks for the help!!).

If anyone wants to test it and let me know if there are other Vista issues, please use the version here:

I'll let it sit for a couple days then ask Parallax to update their version.

Fixes for StampPlot are a couple weeks away.

Thanks for letting me know... Now I'm the proud owner of a Vista box... hmmmm

Well done on resolving the issue, I was curious to whether or not you had.

Congratulations on becoming a Vista user , I have not attained that status yet.

Thanks Jeff. It boiled down to changing the installer to have the choice to whom to install for (select everyone as opposed to only me), this allowed the controls to be used by the non-admin users, and I had to lighten up the licensing for the serial control.

Yeah, expect for the cost of new computer, a simple fix :P Eh, needed a new one anyway, my development XP box was 5 years old and slowing down quite a bit.

Since I can't afford every system and OS, I really appreciate when end users give me feedback. StampPlot was out for 5 years before someone finally told me it locked up Japanese and some other versions of XP!
