Please help! Serial LCD problem

I have the parallax 2x16 serial lcd(backlight). I have used it successfully many times before in different projects. Then I decided to try to embed it in a new one and used a picaxe chip. The chip worked sporadically(probably out of sync since it was using an overclocked internal resonator) BUT it DID work. Now, for some unknown reason my LCD is no longer working. If I turn the switches both down to test it, the test screen comes up perfectly. I have also made sure to use a regulated powersupply in case my current one was contaminated since I was also running a lamp with it. Unfortunately it now refuses to accept serial input. Ive tried all the baud rates and Ive tried using multiple different microcontrollers and even the computer to communicate with it but all I get is the dark screen with the little cursor in the corner.

PLEASE help me! any suggestions?

well, thank you for the reply.... I guess Ill go ahead and try that then since no suggestion so far. Im hoping that maybe I just need to find a way to reset the lcd or something.

Maybe check and see if it is the wires itself that are hooked up the to the LCD display. It could have fried one when the data was going faster that the LCD processor could handle and current went up and fried the wires inside.

Thanks, but I already tested that. I actually soldered some new wires directly to the lcd. I also used a multimeter to crudely test if the serial data was making it to the board, and it was. Im really at a loss as to what it could be. I have contacted support though, hopefully something will come up.
