VMUSIC / VMUSIC2 question

I've successfully interfaced the VMUSIC module and can now play MP3's under processor control, but am finding things that don't seem to work properly.... do any of you know:
1.· Does the Volume control command work?··I've tried many byte-values with the command:· ·"VSV ",byte,$0D·· and none of them seem to work - the VMUSIC2 ignores them all except for a byte-value of $00, and for that specific value (which the manual says is max-volume) the module stops playing altogether (blinking stops on the USB-stick too).
2. If "V3A" works?· When I do a "play all" command ("V3A"),· it often doesn't play some of the files before it starts repeating.
3. Which commands will interrupt the audio stream?· I've noticed that sending it some commands (which should not affect the current audio being played)·will cause hiccups in the output audio.
4.·Of issues with the other file and directory commands (not specifically for mp3 playing)?
5. If this company tests their products before offering them to the public?· :^)
I know Mike Green has used this module, but thought I'd open it up to the forum too.·· Thanks Mike for prior help and, hopefully, future help!!

Select VMSC Music Firmware (for VMUSIC modules) V3.62, Reflash (FTD). Rename the downloaded file FTRFB.FTD, load into root directory of your USB mass storage device. When VMUSIC module powers up and finds this file present it will automatically upgrade its firmware. See Vinculum Firmware User Manual Version: 2.3 page 13. With latest firmware, your module should respond to commands as expected.
