Optrex DMC20481 !

Can anyone tell if this Optrex DMC20481 has the same Interface like Hitatchi´s are ? or are there any one spec for Optrex ?
This is 4 lines x 20 Characters.

I thought I saw that number in one of Xilinx manuals for a starter kit (ug334).
But sadly, I was mistaken, they only site:
the ST7066U graphics controller as
functionally equivalent with the following devices.
• Samsung S6A0069X or KS0066U
• Hitachi HD44780
• SMOS SED1278

There is still one from Toshiba... but I do not recall now the number,
Look for the normal pattern of 14 pins for character displays,
1 GND, 2 +V
3 VEE ...

I remember someone told me once (some 12 years ago in 95 or 96) that there were some 2x16 chars displays that where incompaible.

btw, post a photo of the connector and ICs, try to get it in focus

Hi Johan1968,

Your Optrex DMC20481, the datasheet available here http://www.optrex.com/SiteImages/PartList/SPEC/20481bie.PDF·suggests on page 9 that the LSI controller is "HD44780" compatible or equivalent. I read this as being Hitachi HD44780 ready Page 8 gives you all the pin outs of the device. This has sixteen pins, seems very standard IMHO.

Hopefully you will have enough information now to be able to simply interface this display when you receive it.
