I am a beginner and need help

As the subject says, I could use some help. I have the basic stamp homework board and want to do great things with it (i know what you can do is limited). What are resources that I can use to learn more? I want to learn how to use/program an lcd display. Really I just want to know where I can find information that someone who is trying to learn this stuff on their own can go.

Please lead the way.
