BS2 OEM mounting/connecting ?

I am new to stamps and electronics but have finished a small project using the basic stamp 2 OEM and am trying to figure out how to mount the circuit board to a piece of wood using some standoffs.· The circuit board has no holes in it and I am hesitant to drill some holes in it.· Does anyone have any suggestions how to mount the board ?

Also for connectors I did not want to solder all the wires (IO pins, power, etc) in place of the 90 degree header pin that comes with the kit, in case I need to service it in the future.· Two ideas I had:· I found terminal block with screw connectors with a 2.54mm spacing on the pins (.100 on center) that looks like I could solder to the board·and then attach my wires that way.· The other thought was a single row 'wire to board' connector and somehow crimp the wires and insert them into the connector and plug it into the header pin that came with the kit.

Any thoughts / suggestions greatly appreciated.· If there is a different board that is more suitable let me know.· I choose the BS2 OEM mainly because of it's low cost in kit form.· Thanks.

This is from a complete newbie...

Whenever I mod computer cases and internals... I use hot glue to secure them.
Maybe you can hot glue the standoffs to the board?

Like I said, I'm a newbie. Use my advice at your own risk :)

I asked the same thing a while back... the best approach is to use a hook-and-loop fastening syetsm (like velcro). I drilled out the mounting holes on both sides of the DB9 connector and use those for mounting my stand-offs.... it worked fine.

thanks for the suggestions. After more searching I did find this version of a stamp that has mounting holes on the board and is about the same price as the BS2 OEM

    JimK,

As for your thoughts concerning the connections, I would guess that either should work. I woule go with the second one; there are hand crimpers available for pin sockets that small, but they tend to be pricey for experimenters. They do make for neat work, though!

    Rick,

Thanks for the link! It would appear that the pliers available from Michael's is just what I've been looking for... (currently use long-nose pliers, but not totally happy)
