Help I really messed up!

Playing around with the MPROG3 utility, I over wrote the device definition for my usb to serial (RS-232) device that I purchased from Parallax.

Item code 28031 which includes the usb cord. Or Item code 28030 as seen from the online store.

Now it no workie with my SXKEY. freaked.gif

If anyone has one of these devices and wouldn't mind taking a snapshot of the mprog device setting and sending them in an .ept file I would really appreciate it. Matter of fact I will worship the ground that you walk on.

Mama always said "it's all fun and games until someone looses an eye..." Watch out playing around with the MPROG3 utility when you have more than one device attached.

Or post it if you would like.

Thanks and best Regards,

JJ

Let me clear up a few things that I forgot to mention. The MPROG3.0a program is a utility delivered by FTDI not parallax. The chip that I messed up is the FTDI FT232R chip that is used on the usb to serial (RS-232) converter sold by Parallax.

I think the real problem is in the CBUS pin settings that is causing my trouble as I didn't take a snapshot of this device.

    Best Regards,

    JJ

Parallax customer service would be your best choice with this. In the Forum, you are likely to get sympathy and a wide range of advice

Recovery complete. Thanks to Parallax support, they are really a class act! Turns out that the USB-RS232 module's FTDI FT232RL chip, doesn't make use of the cbus pins on the module other than to drive LED's. I set the non used pins to 'Sleep' mode and back in the saddle again.

CBus 1 pin used for Red Led
Cbus 3 pin used for Green Led

    Cbus 0,2,4 'Sleep'

    thanks Joshua...
