LED pinouts

Has anyone ever used these and can help with some pin info?

LTP-3790JG - 2 character 14 segment per character display. 14 pins in 2 rows
LTP-14158AG - 5X8 LED array. 18 pins in 2 rows

They are both made by Liteon. I've asked them but haven't heard anything back.

Thanks,
Mark

    C'mon, CableGuy, "Pin it out."·

The name of the game is:·Process of Elimination or Quality Time with Mr. Multimeter.

You can get LEDs to light, however dimly, with the Diode tester on most multimeters.

Make a diagram of the display, physically, put the negative lead to "pin 1" and strafe the rest with the positive lead;·if you get something to light then write it down and if not then move the negative lead to "pin 2" and strafe away, again...

If that turns up·a dead end·then start all over again with the positive lead on "pin 1" and strafe with the negative lead; continue on till you get results.

    Post Edit -- I could make a youtube demo, but it'll cost you.· :)

I did. :) The 5X8 was relatively easy to do but the 14-seg, not so much.

I can get MOST of the segments to light. It is a common anode setup with pin 16 for digit1 and pin 11 for digit2. But there are a handful of segments that I just can't figure out by trial and error. The Dp being one of them.

Thanks for the friendly push PJ. Your description of how to look for the pinout what was exactly what I had done. Back to the testing board.

Sometimes the DPs aren't connected, they're there but they weren't made a part of the plan by the manufacturer.· Sometimes on a multi-digit 7-segment only segments "b" and "c" are pinned out, even though all the others are there, because it was meant for a 12-hour format clock.· Stuff like that.

AHHHHH, thanks PJ. It wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. There is one seg (inner 11oclock left) that works for digit one but not digit 2 (right). Every one I have shows the same thing.

    Thanks,

    Mark
