Lantronix WiPort

Hi,

I have a Lantronix WiPort Evaluation Kit, and·I was told that WiPort can send and receive data over the network wirelessly without the need to write software to it by using normal UDP programming technique.

What kind of UDP programming technique am I supposed to use? Are there any sample codes for me to test?

I'm trying to communicate with the board through serial port now.

Thanks

In this thread, the 2 last posts, someone describes how he used a Lantronix Matchport.
I guess the WiPort operates in a simular way.

Just note that you cannot use the javelin programming port.
You must use I/O pins and setup Uarts for those pins.

I've managed to send data between my PC and the WiPort using UDP test tool and hyperterminal. thanks.

    Here's the scenario:
I have a router installed on PC 2, and the WiPort is serially connected to PC 1 and PC 1 has got no wireless network card in it.

I tried to use the WiPort to act as a wireless card to PC 1 by unplugging the ethernet cable from PC 1 and the WiPort, but I can detect neither the WiPort nor the router of PC 2 in the available connections.

Is there anyway which I can communicate with the router on the PC 2? The router has been configured to act as an access point.

I think you need to configure the WiPort properly.
See page 36 of the userguide.
    http://www.lantronix.com/pdf/WiPort_UG.pdf

You need to set IP and subnetmask, and gateway address.
If you use DHCP you need to find out which addresses are assigned,
then you can·ping the device to see if it responds.
If the gateway is set properly you should·be able to get into
the router's setup menu from any browser by
giving its IP address in the address bar.

    regards peter

Is this device being connected to a Javelin Stamp? You had another thread on this subject before and between the two it's not clear if you're using a Javelin Stamp Module.

So it's possible to use Lantronix WiPort to act as a wireless card to my PC provided its IP, subnetmask and gateway are setted properly?
