Super Carrier problems

I have an intermittent problem with Javelin and the Super Carrier board.· Sometimes the IDE won't find the stamp and sometimes it will.· When it won't, I can unplug the dc supply from the connector and reconnect it and now the stamp is seen by the IDE.· This might take 10 or so tries, however.· How can I tell if it is something wrong with the carrier board or there is something wrong with the stamp? I'm tempted to buy another super carrier, but I have a nagging feeling that the stamp is faulty somehow.· Any thoughts out there?

Check your power supply and also check pin 21 (VDD) of the javelin.
Both must be stable, and VDD must be 5V.

Thanks for the reply, Peter.· Yes, the voltage on pin 21 is 4.98 vdc.· The IDE hangs after the "...testing for power and resetting" messages (2 separate). The IDE complains that there is no Javelin stamp found on COM1. Funny thing though, this morning when I powered the IDE up so I could read the error message again before I posted this, the stamp was seen.· All I did was plug in the 7.5 vdc power plug into the carrier board.· I'm getting frustrated here.· I have a project to do and I never know whether I'll be able to talk to the stamp.· Ugh.

Are you using a usb2ser cable? If so, see if your port properties have
a latency setting. If so, set it to minimum.

    Larry,

There is nothing unusual about the Super Carrier Board in relation to the Javelin Demo Board as far as programming the Javelin goes. The Super Carrier Board is very simple in its design. Peter is correct to suspect the supply and, if you have a USB to Serial Adapter, that as well. If you have another P/S, try swapping that one in a while. Also, when this is happening, is anything connected to the Javelin I/O pins?
