A BS2 cannot detect metal. It can control the process of metal detection in that it can turn an oscillator on or off
and it can measure relatively slowly changing voltages, then display them.
Here is a variation of the popular PI (Pulse Induction) style of metal detector. The coil arrangement is similar to the classic "Double D" configuration.
