Direct your attention towards telemarketers, and maybe someone will congratulate you for your efforts.

    Superworms,

There seems to be some confusion as to what this thread is about and what is being said here. Perhaps you can clarify what it is you are trying to say as even I am confused.

If you look on Sparkfun's website, you see that they created an entry for their company a few days ago... "If you'd like to contribute to the SparkFun Wikipedia entry, we would really like your assistance. We are not very good at history, but we would like to share a brief history of time here at SparkFun. If you have some info to add or if you'd like to know more, please let us know (you know, with that feedback thingy)."

It seems that Superworms did not think it was worthy of a Wikipedia entry, and had it deleted. I am a bit confused as to why he is "proud" of this though.

I actually believe that Superworms thought the Wiki was started by a third party (not associated with Spark Fun).

I guess he should have researched further into the background. I'm not sure if he understands the implications to his actions.

    Just my thoughts,

My comment about the telemarketers still stands. Could you have a bad day in their direction too?

In fairness to Sparkfun, perhaps you should contact Wikipedia and let
them know you've reconsidered the request for removal.

I don't own any stock in Sparkfun, but I've found them to be one of
the more helpful companies when it comes to assisting their customers
and have had only positive experiences in dealing with them.

    Just my $0.02

    Mark,

Wow dude, why the harsh attitude? ·No need to state the obvious here. I find that some people make mistakes that do not realize it.

I'm not sure the motivation behind the thread, not sure if it was a mistake or not. But I try to give the benefit of·a doubt.

We are all guilty of "Doh.....what did I do that for!" at some point in our lives. He just made the bad mistake of announcing it.

He may have thought he was helping Parallax by cutting a competitor down to size. He just doesn't realize the way it works in this market. Because they are not in any type of competition, it was not a fruitful act.

I would have kept my personal feelings in a PM or something, instead of showing your discontent for him and his actions.

Right, wrong, or indifferent.......he had his reasons.

I'm being harsh because it was just plain wrong and potentially hurts a very valuable part of the electronics hobbyist community. Heck, they are hardly even competitors of Parallax, so he can't even use that as an excuse. I'm sorry if I come across as rude, but if he had done a little research on SparkFun before hand, I doubt he would have done what he did. I am known to passionately defend companies and ideas that I believe in. Sometimes you have to take a strong stance.

My real problem is that by not apologizing for his actions, he comes across as proud of them. I truly do not think he grasps what he did.

    Yep....I see your point.

But I also believe that smacking someone around on a forum does little to no good. Now....if you have his address.....tongue.gif

No really......I agree.....he made·a mistake (at least in my opinion) and should apologize. But some people are not mature enough to admit when they did something "less than perfect".

He may still feel justified about his actions, but I'll leave this thread alone with the following thought:

Be careful what you do to others in your life. Life has a way of·returning your actions to·you, 3 fold.

Woe wait a minute. No where on here does it say that Superworm deleted the wiki entry. I see that it is only assumed. Assumptions are dangerous, especially when they lead to accusing someone.

I saw the other day that the SparkFun entry was deleted. I was bummed to see it happen and I very curious as to why. I bet Superworm is curious too and that is why he posted. I haven't contributed to Wikipedia so I am not familiar with their reasons. In time we may see an entry come back. As Chris pointed out, this thread didn't have a clear direction, but it doesn't say he deleted it. Look at the entry, KrakatoaKatie is the one who used the speedy delete function. If you do a little sluething (reading the profile of KrakatoaKatie and other Superworm post), then I think you can see how KrakatoaKatie and Superworm may not be the same person - just a hunch.

    Tim,

I think you are getting in on the tail end of this thread. If you notice the first post has been edited on the 22 of January. 2 days after it was first posted.

The original post didn't leave any room for assumptions or accusations. But the thread is dead......and should remain that way.

Just to point out something you may have missed,

    · He edited his first post that said "The sparfun wiki site is erased, and "I did it and boy am I proud of myself". Totally lame but this is the real world and "I take it back don't cut it" If the wiki site is back up then all is forgiven but if it isn't I have taken him off my Christmas List.·ARE WE HAVING FUN YET!!!!!
