Propeller Proto Board Item code 32212 Question

Probably a dumb question but here it goes...................

Has anyone been successful on cutting out the 'Propeller Core' from the Propeller Proto Board? Looks like it would make a neat module to have, to insert into a larger project board. Looks like if you did it you would have to tap the 'reset switch' for the RES line so you can program it.

Just a thought, probably stupid! SMT challenged.

    Hi Mike I just did that last week. The only critical part is that you don't have easy access to "reset". You need that for the propplug. But you can scrape off the isolation on the board at one place and solder on a contact.
    I will post a picture smile.gif

    Yup that was what I was thinking. In the lower coroner near P31 there's a blank pad that you could run a 'mag wire' for RES.

    Wish it would warm up, might have to fire up the band saw! Looking forward to seeing your picture!

    Thanks!

    Here is a picture of my Protoboard "Nano" ;-)
    The left side is absolute nonsense off course...
    Didn't want to throw anything away.
    It's a ground floor for power supply and access.

    Yes!, I bought myself a proxxon (something like a dremel) for christmas.

    And I have the drillstand and the compound table, too!

    Cheers,

    Any chance we could get it to fit into one of those PDA keyboards a bunch of us ordered?

    Heh!

    oooH.......

    Cram in a miniSD card socket + 3 resistors, then get Mike Green to modify FemtoBasic and then you would have a modern day Timex Sinclair 1000, in a 3.5" x 3.5" form factor!

    Any chance you've cracked one of those keyboards open and found a "little" space?
    Might have to shave the board down just a bit more?

    (Here's a modified Femto that should fill the bill..)

    @Clemens:

    Another wonderful way to void the warranty!! Love it!

    Do you mind if I include your photos and material in the next release of the Cookbook I'm working on?
    (With proper credit to you of course!)

    Looks like their's only three wires going to the Palm connector, +3.3, data out, and gnd. Pretty tight on the bottom cover, might be able to fit a 'core' module in there.

    LOL - NEED AN AUDIO CLIP OF THAT!

    Wow,

    Not to hijack the thread, but that is why I'm starting a SMT assembly service.

    I hope some of the SMT challenged people consider it.

    If you can get the 'core' to fit in there, here's an option for the screen...

    @James

    If I use your SMT assembly service will you design the board for me for FREE? I'm very ADD and would like to make many changes during the process!

    Just kidding.··tongue.gif· I·have no problems drawing boards, but in the last few years I've had to purchase several magnifying aids!

    If I ever get to the point where I need SMT assembly services, then you are 'bookmarked'!

    Mike,

    Cool......I really have thought of hacking a board up.....but would never do it. I'm to conservative I guess.

    Thanks for posting this!! I had the idea to do this but I've been hesistant to cut up my protoboard because I didn't know whether I would slice any important internal layer traces that way. It's good to know that it does work.
