RF 27981 Receiver and using RSSI

Hi,
I am trying to actually use the RSSI pin on the RF receiver module #27981. There are few code examples, and few specs. I have set up the standard ADC converter from the manual and this seems to work okay in the 5 Volt range (though I seem to have a bias in the circuit). Anyway, has anyone out there actually used this pin? Any hints ? What is the expected voltage range ?

Thanks for any help
Vince L.

You can find out the range by measuring the voltage between GND and RSSI pin
with a multimeter. Measure the voltage with your transmitter off (no signal),
and with your transmitter very close by and switched on (maximum signal).

Okay that gives me range like 1.75 to 1.45 aft 40 feet to 1.23 the the transmitter off. Being a Software Weenie, I'll ask this last question. Should I modify the ADC in the manual(v 1.0 page 159) in any way to handle this. I think I am "in the noise" here.

You can set the ADC·input range·by adding 2 resistors.
    See attached document.
