Moving to prototype, 1st time, what to be aware of?

Ok, I've got my circuit designed and functioning the way I need it. I want to move this over to veroboard and build a prototype. So do I just move the BS2-IC chip over and connect everything up the way I've got it on the BOE? Are there any extra circuits in the BOE that I need to make sure are on my prototype board for things to work or for safety reasons? Also, power: I'm going to use a 9V AC/DC converter, what output wattage range do I need to stay in?

I just want to know if there are any circuits that are encorporated into the BOE that I should be moving over to the prototype. Anyone??

The schematic of the BOE is available on the product page in the Parallax webstore. Have a look at it to see what you need. The BOE furnishes several things:

    1) A voltage regulator with a 1A capacity. The one on the Stamp can furnish only about 50mA total for the Stamp and anything attached to it.

    2) Some of the programming circuitry. In particular, some capacitors attached to the Stamp's ATN pin and the 9-pin serial socket with a jumper that the Stamp Editor expects to see.

    3) A reset button for manually resetting the Stamp.

Note that many "wall-wart"s under light load provide much higher voltage than you would expect. It's not unusual for a 9V power cube to produce 18-20V or more under light load. The Stamp itself will draw maybe 20-30mA.

    Jed,

Be sure to look at the BASIC Stamp Super Carrier Board, too.
