BS1 vs BS2 + AT Modem
I wanted to help our building manager out by building a small wall-mounted BS stamp device that would call him at his cell or home phone number if the internal building temp dropped below 40 degrees. It would play an SOS DTMF tune.
I’m planning on either using a BS1 or BS2 stamp, DS 1620 and an AT command driven modem.
1) Any advantages of BS1 vs BS2 in this particular app.
2) Can anyone recommend an inexpensive modem that interfaces with BS stamps? The URL please.
I've read most of the posts for the last year and cannot locate any code snippets. Any available would be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks
Dan.

Older alarm systems I build used to do something like this...Of course, hayes modems were available surplus back then at very low prices. The BS2 would be able to do this easily. Any hayes compatible external modem would work. You may want to use a line driver such as a MAX232 to interface the BS2 I/O pins to the serial port of the modem. From there it's real simple using a SEROUT command to send a command to the modem to dial a number, pause, then dial some more digits (your SOS code, if you will).
