What is in the little bulbuious plastic thing on the end of the wire? This is a 5V 4AMP supply, I solder 5 sets of wires to the end for my acoustic lights supply but i wonder what is in this thing. If I distroy it to find out I am not sure that I will even know what it is.

It's a switching power supply. The switching is done on the mains side of the transformer at a high frequency to keep the magnetics and filter components small. That's the reason it's so compact.

The bulb you are refering to is an RF choke (sometimes called a balun), it's there to minimize high frequency noise from traveling through (in either direction). You could probably remove it but you may find your supply to have more noisie.

Since there is enough wire to connect the array of plugs without removing it, I will leave it intact.

    Thank's for the replys.
