Is there anyone who knows how to program RFID cards?
Can Stamp do this?

Sorry if the questions sound lame. I'm new.
thanks,

Hi stuartx, the following link is to the Parallax RFID reader product page. On the lower right hand side of this page are several downloads which include sample code and documents explaining how it works.

    Jeff,
Thanks, I read that but I did not see anything on code for programming the card. (I could have over-looked it). But I did not see that info.

    Thank you,

I don't think you program the card. It just has a unique ID that you read and do with what you will. It's the reader and computer that make the decisions

Stuart, the cards come pre-programmed with unique numbers, the RFID reader reads the numbers from the cards and passes the information serially to a processor such as a Stamp. I'm sorry I know nothing about programming the cards and I don't see a reason as every card will have a different number.

Thanks Guys for your quick responses.
Yes, I read where they come pre-unique numbered. And I have used a couple programs to learn more about them. I was just thinking a little outside of the box where you could program information to a RFID card and have the card-reader extract that information.

But thanks for all the help. I'm still learning about RFID so I'm sure I will have more questions soon.
    Thank you all,

    Stuart -

I suspect you may be confusing an RFID tag with a magnetic striped card. The former is generally not programmable, the latter generally is. The mag stripe card are read in a "swipe" type reader. All you need for an RFID tag is proximity (close but not touching).

At work we use the round RFID tags for routine PAT testing they are programmable(many times)·using a read/write wand attached to the PAT tester and the info written consists of an ID number and also test result information, a write usually takes approx 5-10 secs.

I presume that the Parallax ones will also be able to be reprogrammed with access to a writer.

Although the company that markets the read/writer is a UK company, I'll supply a link anyway.

    http://www.seaward.co.uk/products/Brain_Cells_Read_Write_Reader.asp

The company have renamed them as "Braincells" but they are the same RFID tags as sold on the Parallax Site

just noticed that there is a tab on the webpage for the USA group so you may be able to get further info from them?

    Hello,

The company that manufactures the tags we use also makes others that are programmable and some that are at a different frequency. Please see the following link for more information. As a note, our tags are not programmable. A special version of the tag would be required to be reprogrammable. Take care.
