that depends on what you mean by remote control. Range will play the biggest factor to determine what hardware is required. are you talking in the same room, house or anywhere in the world.

as far as video, In my opinion the best route is a wireless IP camera. this will be the easiest for viewing remotely. I haven't found a wireless camera for a decent price so I can't recommended a brand or model, but as far as streaming software I have had the best luck with a program Called VisionGS. the "stills streaming" method is what will work best in this application.

as far as the remote part, if you planning on the same room IR would work and be far less expensive, but I think RF would be the best option. and if your planning on a range of 1000FT or less I would plan on RF. which module and brand you use depends on range and some specifics of your situation.

    good luck!

    and welcome to the forum

There are all kinds of ways. Do a web search for wireless video and you will find lots and lots of devices for sale, some B & W, some color, different frequency bands, different amounts of power (affects the range), etc.

For a control link, Parallax sells several RF links. Check the Parallax webstore for details including sample code for the Stamps. Other types of wireless links include Bluetooth, WiFi, and ZigBee (XBee). Parallax also has a whole tutorial book (IR Remote for the Boe-Bot) on the use of IR remote control.

What kind of robot are you building? What kind of controller are you using? What kind of power budget do you have? What kind of range do you want? How much can you afford? All of this has to be answered before you can decide on what kind of remote control to use.
