Dual interface of crystals

Is it possible to share a crystal between the propeller and another chip? I have an ADS1211P 24 bit ADC I'd like to use with the prop and it only seems logical that they would be syncronized with the same crystal. I'm not too experienced with how crystals operate so I'm not sure if there would be a probelm. Basically, the propeller XIN and XOUT would stay the same, but the ADC XIN would just be connected to the XIN of the propeller as well. I would think that they would share the same clock freq.

Any problem yet?

You should use XO for output from the Prop crystal oscillator.

So, connect the prop to the crystal as usual, but connect the XIN of the ADC to the XOUT of the prop?

No, you can't use the same crystal as the clock source for two different chips, it just doesn't work that way. You can use an active oscillator to drive more than one chip.

Consider using the 'Synth' object to generate your ADC clock.

I'm using it to generate a 5 MHz sq. wave for the 2nd Prop of a two Prop project. Works great. Only 'costs' one I/O pin.
