In the next few weeks we will announce a design contest for the Propeller, I don't have all the details at this point, but here is what I know: contest will be around 6 months in length, and special weight will be given by projects which use the unique capabilities of the Propeller. So start thinking of a project!

Will there be any contest hardware price breaks? turn.gif

I have not begun to explore the Propeller yet... But prizes and other incentives might just be enough to nudge me into exploring what I presume everyone else here knows to be a great chip! lol.gif

Split Categories for Software vs Hardware vs Combined projects?

    Looking forward to this!

No splits, just one general catagory (that way we can offer higher prize money to winners). We can't do an upfront discount on hardware because anyone could say they are entering, buy the hardware at discount then never turn in an entry. We will discuss other forms of discounts (such as a coupon for a discount on future purchases upon submission of an entry).

I will be reviewing the contest rules today, my boss will look them over tomorrow, and sometime in the next week or two we will post the details.

Sounds like it'll need to be a combined software/hardware project boys..

Perfect! I have just the thing in mind... Hardware that's been waiting for an opportunity like this... :)

Agreed. As software specialist I won't enter this as it's bound to go to a combined hardware/software project. And I can think of a couple right now that would deserve it in preference to anything I'm likely to do with software alone.

Hey guys, don't get down on yourself if you don't have hardware experienec or ASM experience.· The rules aren't released yet so we don't know what the criteria the contest is.· Don't·get shutdown by the rules (or lack of them at this point)·or·your experience level·place limits on how are to grow and be creative.· What I mean is if you are not good at hardware, find someone who is and partner together to do the project.· If you are aren't able to program ASM, then keep getting really good in SPIN - learn all the tricks and traps and eventually you may graduate to ASM.· Or partner with someone who is good at ASM.

Be creative.· Find solutions.· This contest will be fun because I like seeing how a competition drives innovation and ideas.
