Just so you know
THE ATR robotic base from Rogue Robotics is a piece of &^*%!
it is a tracked vehicle that looks like It is good for all terrain purposes
but in reality it is powered by two BABY 1.5V motors attached to a cheap plastic gear box from Japan
EVEN IF you power the 1.5V motors with 5V+ the robot does not have enough energy to turn around on household carpet
WHAT IS THE POINT OF PUTTING TREADS ON A ROBOT IF IT CAN ONLY MOVE ON HARDWOOD FLOORS?!!!
If anyone has ever gotten this base to finalize a robotics project please tell me!
If you want a tracked robot buy tank treads for your boe-bot
servos are STRONG and don't run off 1.5V
thx

P.S.

I did a tracked robot by using a toy tank. It cost me RM200.00 or USD60.00. Take out the electronic thing and replace it with BS2 &
2 HB25 to drive both 7.2V motor in the tank. I am very satisfied with the performance. It can drive on all terrain unless in swarm(not tested yet).
I agreed that i've spend so much for the motor controller but for sure i can use it for my bigger project.
So for the newbies out there who love robotic don't simply throw your money away. There's a lot of good toys out there that you can
play with then after you get bored, turn it to your favorite robot.
Think before you buy.
Azmi.
It turns out that I might have been a tad bit angry when I posted this thread
tomorrow I will try to rebuild the gearbox using a hck I found on the internet to make it have more torque
I power it using baby motors and If everything fails at least I'll know I didn't buy it.
I got it for Christmas last year. (I'm only 16)
goodnight
