Ipod serial connection

Hi
After a little punting around thre net I found the pin-outs on the base of my ipod.
My plan is to interface it to a basic stamp, so that I can·control it and also display the track info on a seperate lcd display.
My questions...
I believe the Ipod is a 3.3v unit.· What interfacing issues will I have?
Can I directly connect the Ipods serial·TX/RX connections·(via any voltage difference adjustments) to the basic stamp?
In fact... is the BS2 the best option?· I believe other programmable chips run at 3.3v, but I have never used them.
I will have to look around and see if I can find the serial commands for the Ipod, so that I can obtain the info I need from the Ipod, and the control codes.
Many thanks
Steve
