    FlameTube features:

    - P8X32A CPU
    - dual-side matrix of 192 independently controlled lighting-class warm-white LEDs
    - 3-axis digital accelerometer with high sensitivity
    - two high-quality digital mics with wind cameras
    - multi-protocol peripheral port with USB3 connector
    - built-in circuit, allowing to connect USB and non-USB devices directly
    - excellent design and premium materials (optical-grade PC & aluminum alloy 7000 series, unibody technology)

You can order your FlameTube here: https://igg.me/at/flametube

I'm going to open FlameTube App Store, allowing you to share your apps to all FlameTube users (incl. non-developers).

Here is my (and yours) ideas of FlameTube apps:

    Apps for home

    Clock (single or multiple FlameTubes)
    Kitchen timer with contactless control
Earthquake detector (for best results, needs Internet connection, collaboration is possible, see the discussion)
    Intrusion detector

    Audio & Music

    Sound meter
    Sound specter Analyzer
Visual Metronome (also could produce sound using external speaker)

    Communications and networking

Notification point (connected to a smartphone, PC/Mac, Internet)
    FlameTube for lovers
    FlameTube UI for social networks

    Interactive light effects

    Candle Flame
    Magic sparkles
    Incandescent lamp
    Running wave lamp
    Raindrops
    Snowfall
    Tesla lightnings
    Animated icons

    Games for built-in display

Tetris (controlled by the accelerometer and mics)
    A glass of beer
    Dice (David Betz)
    Tower (David Betz)

    Games for externally connected TV

    Tetris
    Arcanoid
    Xonix
    Pacman
    Tennis

    Your ideas?
  • Maybe if a few more apps get written and described on your funding site you'll get more investors.

Not to leave you discouraged: I fear, flametube will not be the expected success, inspite of the propeller. I backed two projects at indiegogo which flopped. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lightpack-2-light-orchestra-for-your-living-room-tv-videogames#/ that came to my inbox today. While I'm not interested and my Philips tv has ambient lightning for free, this project shows tremendous success. So what do they do better?
I fear flame tube needs some mock up. Have at least a few colored leds, for example. You might find contributers here in the forum, willing and able to help, but will they spend time and money? I doubt.
  • This might be a way to prototype FlameTube apps before the hardware is available:

    https://learn.adafruit.com/animated-flame-pendant

The nice thing about this is that the display is 16x9 which allows multiple digits to be displayed at the same time. I think the FlameTube is only 12x8.
  • The earthquake detector is a pretty hard application. MEMS sensors are not sensitive enough to long period energy for EQs unless they are very powerful or very close. In the first case, you don't need a detector, in the second there a lots of false triggers from anthropogenic noise. The MyShake team has been doing this in California with phone accelerometers, but they require a network of them and they all must see the source. Even then, the signal is best at night and for local earthquakes. The energy from tele-seismic events is too long period for consumer MEMS to see.

The discussion about FlameTube simulation and development is moved here: http://forums.parallax.com/discussion/164887/flametube-devtools-and-os

Developers, who will help to create DevTools and OS, have a chance to receive their FlameTube samples RIGHT NOW.

Why FlameTube needs a mock up while we already have final product? Maybe I misunderstand your comment?

Hmm... Why not to connect FlameTubes to the Internet for that? And connect FlameTube network to MyShake one?

You'd have to talk to them about it. There are catalogs, mainly maintained by the USGS that could be polled.

This thread is going to be merged with:

    http://forums.parallax.com/discussion/164887/flametube-devtools-and-os#latest

It does not make sense to have three FlameTube threads running.

It will be open for 12 hours before merging.

(We try to keep things un-cluttered) :)

Are you sure that it would be convenient for people? One thread is for app development discussion, another one - for DevTools and OS.

And, how to pin some of messages to the top of the thread?

You can edit your own post, which is at the top of this thread.

And respectfully, please consider that this forum is not your personal store.
Whilst able to support you, we also need to keep things organised and balanced here in accordance with the wider needs of Parallax users.

In that respect, keeping the thread count for your product managed makes sense.

The moderation team here are a really friendly bunch, and we try to do our best for everyone!

Keep going positively though, with every success for your team!
