    Did it get "sunk" ???
  • jmgjmg Posts: 15,148
Hmmm... Maybe it bumped into some forum limit ?
  • Maybe Ken deleted it as a last ditch effort to keep Chip from being distracted... ;)

Parallax have now gone into Stealth Mode !!
  • The Google cache has this, from Sep 1, 2015 04:44:00 GMT:
    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:a6WW-n0lt58J:forums.parallax.com/+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Various of the pages were also cached...
  • Forum search ("powered by Google(tm)") finds links to pages, but the discussion is not found.
    http://forums.parallax.com/search?Search=16-Cog
  • I hope the thread is restored. There's a lot of useful information in that thread.

You're kidding, right? This forum software can't possibly be limited to only 255 posts can it?

I was going to point to "Tachyon OS furiously fast Forth" but it seems that too has gone *poof*, so some change they made, has clearly killed larger threads.

What is the largest surviving thread ? ( I see 17 pages thread in Robotics ?)
  • Not OK. Please fix it. That is all.

The 40 pages of my old "ZiCog a Zilog Z80 emulator in 1 Cog" seems to be still intact.

    WTF is going on?

    Hi all

I've just checked thread contents using google cache, but it is limited to pages ranging from 1 thru 120, August 6.

Just do a Google search with the following terms inside the search box:

    Thru

    to get there.

I believe the other missing threads could be accessed using the same technic, but at what extent, I'm not sure.

    Henrique

P.S. Don't forget to hit the down arrow (Cache) to get there.

P.S. II Don't try the above search thru the forum search box (custom search, powered by google), it will not work. Open a new window and do it using google web search instead.

I don't know what has happened, either.

Ken doesn't know, either, but our IT guy will look into it in the morning.

Oddities apart, it did happen just after Google custom search was implanted.

    Perhaps only a coincidence..

Maybe some hurricane class wind(ow) blew up all their clouds! ;)

I hope we can get it back in the state it was last in before disappearing.

Computers surprise me every day. You never know what they are going to do, or not do.
  • You are lucky to live in USA.

In Brazil, we caught ourselves everyday surprised by what comes in the power cords, served by the mains, only to name the least worrying weird things.

Here, when computers fail, hardware architects are the least guilt ones.

When it comes to electricity in general, and electronics in particular, the devil, for sure, is in the tails!

    Very strange

For the first time since i began to follow the forums, there are a twelve minutes lag in the time tags of the posts.

This post, for example, must hit 05:03:00 GMT (02:03:00 here in Brazil)

P.S. Now the lag was seven minutes! Weird it is.

    What time lag?

Edit: Ah, see what you mean. I hit POST on this at 8:16 and it got time stamped as 8:06.

Presumably their server is time travelling...

    Yeah! Gotcha.

And it has been varying during the last two hours or so.

    P.S. At 05:23:00 UTC/GMT
  • As rjo pointed earlier :innocent:

Hmm, not quite sure how testing is done, and errors detected when forum software is touched.

Would seem like it would be a good step to add to add the following to the Maint. process:

    1. Start Maint window, disable new or reply posts
    2. Do a capture on total number of posts/replies
    3. Do forum maint.
    4. Do another capture, and compare against #2
    5. If that and other checks are good, enable normal operation

  • I feel like Linus without his blanket.
  • Hmm. the new forum software is found to have "undocumented" features such as automatic thread deletion.

    Not cool.

I do hope they have up to date backups.

    We have backups! :)

Ok then. It's just work. Sorry it has to be done, but it's really important that it get done. We've got a product history, definition, and god knows what else in that thread.

    Same for Tachyon.
