I know a lot of people do not read the sandbox so I thought I would mention here that right now there is a 30% off sale on propmod-us_ps_sd as they are now EOL. This puts them below cost and a great price for anyone wanting a small board to play with the prop.

    What was the Buck/boost that was used on that board???

    Would not recommend as it has been getting harder and harder to buy the chip.

    I was interested as buck or boost was usual, but I had thought that buck and boost was trickier.

    I notice that there was a 3.9V Zener across the 3.3V rails, I had an AVR that got upset when the inverter put out something like 30V. From then on I fitted 5.6V Zeners.

    I see that Atmel do a dinky AVR that has its own inbuilt buck/boost ccts, another thing onto the Prop1.5 wish list !

    to lower waisted power I removed the zener on the propmod-us_ps_sd. the 1x1 still have it to protect you from the oops I hooked it up to 12v senario. It does not protect for long but it is better then nothing.

    The IC works great at providing 3.3v out. It just has a very small voltage range 2.8V to 5.5V input. If you are going to use order lots in advance. It some times can take a few months to get in.

    It got me looking at the Farnell range, they often refer to buck/ boost chips as just one sort or the other and not both.

    The last boost thing I made used transistors and hand wound toroids, very retro.

    I sure hope that you are replacing this product. I have one and it is a very nice tool, and the onboard SD makes it even better. As long as the 1X1 stays, though, I still have a small propeller module to turn to.

    The 1x1 will not go away. As for replacing it parallax sells a really cheap sd card reader that Wba consulting hacked onto a 1x1 and I am coming out with a new power supply soon.

    Just ordered 3 of what was then apparently 7 remaining -- a nice little module at a great price for simplifying a project I was avoiding.

    Good to know, mctrivia -- that buck-boost power circuit makes it a good alternative to a nanoized protoboard for certain power situations.

    Yes the buck/boost power supply is very handy. I am going to be coming out with a boost power supply module soon designed to squeeze every last drop out of 1 or 2AA bateries. I have been testing the prototype and they work extremely well. The module can be set at any voltage between 3 and 12V, provides up to 2A and will drain the batteries right dead before drooping. Also it works with both rechargeable and alkaline batteries.

    If you are really interested. I have 5 prototypes. I am using 3 of them but the rest I can offer until I get a large order in. I have not yet figured out pricing yet. Will get back to you on that tommorow.

    Once I sell off the 9 remaining propmod-us_ps_sd I will have enough money to do a production run of these modules if there is interest in them.

    Just a note I am going away for a week on saturday(August 14) if you want boards shipped before the 23 orders need to be in before then.

    Still have 9 propmod-us_ps_sd for sale at 30% off. If anyone wants to take them all off my hands I will ship for free and throw in a 4.3" Touch LCD Screen, and the driver board for it(roughly $60 value).

    Ow that is a tempting offer mctrivia, but I can't really justify it. I have a specific project I was struggling with that the propmod will simplify, but it's a personal thing I probably won't be making more than one or two of.

    My interest in the buck-boost supply isn't very urgent and can wait until you get production started. I already have a few bodhilabs modules I need to use and one will probably be sharing an enclosure with a propmod. I was originally going to use the bodhilabs unit to power the 5V stuff (specifically the LCD from a Tandy Model 100 clone) and use a low-dropout regulator to provide 3v3 for the Props, but the propmod can provide the 3v3 from the same 2 to 3.5V sources I was going to use and it will be more efficient, and I won't have to try to solder the SMT regulator that isn't available in thru-hole.

    that is ok. Even at 30% off it is a bit of money to buy 9. I am hoping to sell them all off before the weekend but it is not like I will starve if I do not sell them.

    My offer of LCD and breakout for anyone taking the remainder applies if you buy 5 or more propmodules(don't have to buy all 7 left).

    Just took delivery on my 3. Very nice modules; it's too bad they are going out of production. This just saved one or two protoboards from getting nanoized.

    Correction. I am now all out of propmod-us_ps_sd. WBA Consulting has 3 still which you can order from my web site still you just need to sign the waver that I can give him your contact information so he can ship it to you.

    Only 2 left. I will keep my phone on me until Sunday so any orders made before then with the waver sent to me will get shipped out. Otherwise I will see everyone in a week when I get back from Mount Robson
