Change Button! (???)

I'm puzzled. Why did I make this note to change the button? It's got a 10K pulldown resistor and when pressed the pin gets 3.3V.

Was I crazy when I made the note, or am I crazy now?

    Is it backwards? In other words, is the switch on that side of the joystick?

    No, that's not it. The joystick and button are working fine as they are.

    It's an election year, maybe you meant the button on your lapel?
