Opensky in the news

edited 2010-08-05 12:46 in General Discussion
I was reading about Opensky in the news.· They are a blogging community that helps sell products.· I wonder if they could help sell Parallax products.· I wonder if you can be both the seller and supplier on Opensky because they want 50% of the profits and·also being the supplier·might take a bite out of the unprofitability of this idea as they might share some of the 50% profits.

I also wonder if there are other alternative websites that could be more competitive than Opensky to sell microcontroller products.

Why not just open a store on ebay and sell things that way?
    Or through Amazon?

These are the product categories OpenSky lists on their homepage: Baby, Cooking, Design, Garden, Food, Green, Healthy, Home, Kitchen, Organic. 'Doesn't seem like the kind of place one would go to look for electronics.

Open Sky has chosen the Mustang as its charter operation launch aircraft. Pictured (left to right) are Trevor Esling, vp, international sales, Cessna; Haytham Azhari, chairman and md, Open Sky Aviation; Saad Wallan, chairman, Wallan Aviation, Cessnas sales representative in the Middle East.Lebanon's Open Sky Aviation, bidding to become the first entry-level business jet charter operator in the Middle East, has ordered two Mustangs. Open Sky CEO Haytham Azhari says: "The Mustang is the perfect aircraft to attract new customers to business aviation. It will be a natural step up for travelers who presently fly scheduled but need better and more flexible access to destinations across the Middle East. Our business customers will be Buy China able to make quick one-day business trips to Cairo, Amman and Jeddah while our leisure passengers will appreciate direct flights to the Greek isles, Cyprus, Turkey and Sharm-El-Sheikh." Open Sky Aviation will operate the Mustangs from Beirut's Rafic Hariri airport and will focus on demands for trips to and from countries including Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He says the Mustang is ideally suited to Middle East charter operations. "Its range and interior space make it an ideal choice for regional travel and we are sure it will prove popular with our customers," says Azhari. Beirut is seeing an increase in charter and aircraft handling activity as demand in the Middle East expands.

Why fish in the same pond?· How hard is it to start a new operating system when Microsoft, Linux and others have a dominance?· How do you get market share in starting a new browser when the field is already crowded?· You would have to compete with Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Firefox, etc.· People already adopted those browsers and don't want to change.

I was in school and I saw kids launching rockets on the field.· I got excited and I had to have one because I didn't have one.

You show it off to people who've never seen one.· If you want to compete with people who already have one then their interest is already divided.
