Hey everyone-
I took an unofficial video tour of Parallax Inc.! Check it out on Parallax's Youtube Channel (the link is in my signature below), or·at Flickr (link is there as well)!
Yes, it is very low resolution- the tour is meant to·be·just a peek into the company's inner workings!

That's not all! We have a short video up on our brand new router making the solar panel bases for Parallax's solar panel kit (check it out on Flickr, my Blog, or Youtube)!

Also, please check out my blog and follow it! It's a beginner's blog but I will, once or a couple times a day, feature something about the company in the posts as well (like the new RFID Module or Where is Boe Bot? or our new Tech Support guy)....

Bye for now!

Thanks, Maddie! That tour is hilarious -- but also very nice. I missed the chance to go to UPEW this year (I'll be there next year) and your tour gave me a sense of the place and its people.

(Pssst... you misspelled "engineering" in one of the slides... just sayin...)

As an artistically oriented person I think you will be amazed at some of the arty possibilities that open up when you know how to program simple embedded devices. If you check out sites like hackaday.com you'll see a lot of projects that involve adding blinky lights to sculpturey thingies and just generally doing stuff for the sake of wow and pretty.

One thing I made with a basic stamp, years ago when blue LED's first came out, is a random color table for a fist-sized quartz crystal I had. The stamp just cycles the intensity of the red, blue, and green LED's very slowly, so you can't see the color change, but the color varies randomly over time and the light diffuses through the milky base of the quartz crystal making it look like it's lit up from inside. (You can buy things that do that nowadays cheap, but I had mine first thanks to Parallax.)

Oops! I thought something looked funny on those slides. They'll be fixed and re-posted momentarily.
    Thanks!
I'll check out some of those light projects too...

Maddie, the blog is fantastic. Everybody should check it out and meet Kevin, the new tech support guy.

Your experience with the Boe-Bot will prove to be very useful. . . Just in time for your departure to the university. Maybe you'll want to skip college and stay at Parallax, learning the Propeller and helping out your lame boss at the same time.

Actually, I like the suggestion above about considering the BASIC Stamp for an art project too.

Yup, you guys need to engineer a way to keep Maddie smile.gif
That video tour with the sepia tone effect and the old music
    was great!

She just might decide to take up programming seriously.

I also enjoy art projects, especially using RGB LEDs...I love controlling
    those things smile.gif

The video of a BOEbot with the Say It appmod was cool. I am now fighting off the urge to buy one, but for how long who knows. It will have to wait in line behind the line scan camera and the easy bluetooth.

Maddie: Great video, it's interesting to see what's going on at Parallax. Here's a suggestion for you to implement this summer. Get the Parallaxians to make a web-controlled BoeBot or Stingray with a webcam that people can log onto and drive around Parallax. It will need to have a recharging base. There is a web-controlled robot at http://www.personalrobots.com/spycye/testdrive.html but it's not working now. WowWee's Rovio could do it, but obviously we want to see Parallax products.

    Cool video!

Any Chance I could get copies of the posters of the SX, BS, and Propeller chips shown in the Lobby. Like to hang them in my office.
