Which Basic Stamp is best for Midi Controller

  Does it have to transmit AND receive at the same time? If it does, the Basic Stamp is probably not a good choice.

  Neither the medium range PICs (such as the PIC16F84) nor the Basic Stamp (any model) are particularly suited to simultaneous MIDI reception and transmision as they do not support buffered serial communications. On the Basic Stamp II, any MIDI coming in while the Stamp is processing will be lost.
  

  
  The propeller chip is well suited for MIDI control. Look at:
