7.2V Motor, Bracket and Wheel Kit motor problems
I soldered wires to the tabs on the motors and now they don't work when I apply power? Could I have fried something? I have soldered leads to motors in the past (even pager motors) with out any problems.
Since I seem to have destroyed these motors (3 of them) is there a recommended way to connect the leads to them?
Thanks,
Mike

I wouldn't think a simple soldering job would hurt the motors.· If you put a lot of heat on each tab you could have hurt the motors.
My solution was I went to my local auto parts (O'Riely's, Autozone)·store and bought crimp female connectors.· I found them in the electrical section.· They accept .110" blades which is perfect for the tabs on wheel kit motors.· They are gold plated for the car stereo guys which makes them a little pricey, but they work great and allow for easy changes.· It looks like the company that made them is called "Dorman Product Inc.".· The parts numbers are 84541 -red and 84547 - Blue.
Hope this helps,
Tony

I went to HSC this morning and found some crimp lugs that will fit. For $5 I got a bag of 100 so if anyone needs some let me know.
BTW: The guy at HSC asked me if the tabs were nickel plated. If so then the solder does not stick well (which is the problem I had) and to rough them up some before soldering.
