I believe that's the same as the Alpha-400, Elonex and whatever it's called this month...

http://www.littlelinuxlaptop.com/

It's a fun machine, but so SLOOOOOOOW!
(And my model has 512MB RAM, not 256MB.)

In the Linux edition that came with my machine they've set a max of 3(!) different user programs running at any time.
(Luckily, several open Word-processing windows are counted as one. )

I wrote up on my experiences with it, and even set off a section of my Forum for it.

I have a Nokia N800 that also has a 400 MHz processor but only 128 MB RAM. The software of today is just too slow on these devices. The soft we had 10 years ago would be much more suited but who wants it ?...

I just wanted a tablet I could use as I would a block of paper. This device is not it. The software is lacking and the screen space is just too small. :-(. That much money wasted...

I have a Nokia N770 - the predecessor to the N800. It's capable at game play, but web browsing is about 3x slower on the N770 than it is on a 3rd generation iPod Touch.

Note the 400 MHz processor in the $99 laptop is NOT an x86 clone - so it's fairly limited in the software department. I think a better option is an Asus EEEPC refurb. You can find the 7 inch models with a Celeron processor, 512 MB RAM, 8 GB SSD hard drive and Windows XP for $140. Linux models are available for less.

Journalist might like it as a notebook that can be lost or damaged and easily replaced. Essentially, they just need to be able to easily write and quickly download a story with their news service.

I have an Asus EEEpc 4G and am quite happy with it. Of course it is $200 more.

Alternatively, this might be a useful RS-232 terminal for Parallax projects.

Brad's BST would run fine on this making it a perfect $99 programming tool for the Propeller. :)

Unfortunately I don't think so. It looks like it runs a MIPS processor and the Freepascal compiler does not support MIPS yet. I believe a MIPS port is in the works, but it's not very advanced at the moment. At least if it was MIPS I could test for it. My router runs a MIPS processor and I've got a shell on that ;)

I should'a written the thing in Python....

If it's the HW I think, it's using an 'XBurst' CPU.
