Females avoiding me?

I just have the worst luck finding female headers like the one on Phildapill's PropBoard: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=774075
Digikey has double-row headers but nothing in a single row afaict. I don't need a 1x30 like Phil used, but say I'm looking for a 1x10 -- how and where would one find such? Preferably in the US. I'm more interested in the how. I went to Jameco.com and couldn't figure out how to specify female in the search. I think it's me.

Some companies call them "sockets" rather than female headers, which is probably why you're having a hard time finding them

Sparkfun has some headers that look exactly like what you're looking at:

The DigiKey search engine sometime chokes, and this is a case in point. Try their part number S7008-ND. With a similar need, I usually search on the manufacturer (Sullins), since they have the most economical headers and receptacles but sometimes don't come up using a keyword search.

Wow, I feel like a celebrity... LOL

I got mine from futurlec.com. They sell a pretty good variety and for great prices, but it comes from Taiwan, so my shipping time was pretty long. On the order of 3 weeks, but usually about 1 week. Go to Futurlec.com and on their search, use this part number - "FHEADS10". It should be what you want.

Oh, and futurlec's shipping is pretty cheap. $4 for orders under $30.
