Propeller education board from Thailand
I found this board at
www.ett.co.th
(all Thai--no english)
It is much like the Parallax demo board but cheaper and uses the DIP version
of the Propeller and mostly through-hole parts, so it's easier to repair. The
propeller is in a socket. The few sm parts look easy to replace if damaged.
It says in the description that you can download programs to the board using USB.
But I don't see a USB connector? It also says a "Cable for Downloading" is included.
I guess the cable must be a USB to serial cable that maybe connects to the 5pin connector
seen at the upper left???
The propeller chip is included with the board.
They seem to sell all their products mostly on Ebay.
This lists for 69.95 and 8 shipping to US.
But they have them listed as buy now or Make Offer.
That means you can probably get if for 10-20 less.
I'm going to email about the USB cable..to clear that up, and if all sounds good I will order a few
and post the results here
EDIT: They seem to have 2 versions of boards for the Propeller. The other version is the same price
and has an SD card socket!
Here is the list of particulars for the 2nd version(see image at bottom)
* Includes P8X32A-D40 Propeller Chip.

Dang!..I did a search but did not turn up the earlier post.
Sorry to be rehashing old news then :-(
EDIT:
I looked at those 2 old posts...they don't discuss the 2nd version of the ere board
the one with the SD adapter...so at least my post has something new
Think I will get the 2nd version...the old posts mention lack of a eeprom chip in a socket.
The newer board looks like it has a socket for the eeprom...just above pins 37-40 on this larger image.

I am microcontroled.
If it's not Parallax then don't even bother. :-)

When is Parallax going to fix this forum so native search really works. Yes I know the work-arounds. But C'mon Parallax... when?
I've ordered parts from Thailand before and have had good luck.

I was going to get the other boards but decided against it when I realized the eeprom is underneath the propeller on the board.
Please do post about the other boards, I'm really thinking of buying 1 or 2 of them...but I will now wait to see if smoke comes out
of the ones you get
It looks like the board with the sd slot has a bridge rectifier tied to both the regular power socket and the 2 screw terminal thing.
plus it looks like it has maybe about 500uf of filter capacitor...so ac or whatever polarity dc should work and you can get power from
an old wall wart that you have snipped the plug off of...sweet!
Mount that board onto a piece of plexiglass or whatever and stick down 2 solderless breadboards beside it and you have a really nice
setup.
