    www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/txtSearch/400-00002/List/1/ProductID/203/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2cProductName

This one shows as P/N 400-00002 in the components list for the Boe-Bot kits, but the hyperlink on the P/N is incorrect in the components list. If you do a search for the P/N, it comes up at the above link for 75 cents. Funny thing is that I don't see any tact switches in any of the Boe-Bot kit pictures. The only one I see is on the Board of Education (item 28103 or 28803) so is that the one your are looking for? Anyhow, not sure as to the exact manufacturer part number of P/N 400-00002, but it looks a lot like a GS series tactile switch from E-switch. Check Digikey P/N EG2517-ND. search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=EG2517-ND

As for the tact switch on the board of education, there are hundreds that look exactly like it. Just do a search for tactile switches on Digikey or Mouser and you will see that the most common, unsealed tactile switches look like that. As an example however, one that looks "~exactly" like this is ALPS SKHHARA010 (Mouser P/N 688-SKHHAR)www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=seHrhfPpLDx%252bIZL0Z0bB2Q%3d%3d

This is a new term to me, despite rather extensive experience.· What's a tact switch?

I know a great many different kinds of switches, but this thread is the first time I've ever encountered this particular term.

At first thinking it must be a typo, I Googled the term tact switch and found many eager vendors, but no explanation of what a tact switch is.· So it's just my own ignorance.· The way to cure that is by asking.

    So -- what's a tact switch?

Despite the name, it has nothing to do with discretion or diplomacy. It's actually short for "tactile" switch which provides physical feedback to the finger when activated, usually from a collapsing metal dome for the pushbutton type.
