I'm sorry, but this manager-sales-application engineer-design engineer-customer support-public speaker-professional hobbyist-secretary-telecommuter-wireless expert position as described would demand something like $58/hour plus a supplied computer and software and paid-for phone connection and lab-quality equipment.
Sales engineers usually earn multiples of what the average engineer earns -- if they are good at it.· I don't think the 'hiring manager' expects something for nothing.· If·they have open source software for 2.4Ghz tranciever·product for 802.11g or n, there is a growing demand for modifying wireless routers to specialized applications.
I am a bit curious as these days I have gotten into hacking an Asus WL500gP wireless modem and one can really do a lot with this $75 wonder.· If one knows how to do this, you just have to load a form of Linux called OpenWrt and add a USB hard drive. Suddenly you have a 24/7 Windows/Linux file server, router, firewall, and much more. But, Broadcom doesn't really want to provide open source rf components to meet this demand.· Does that interest rfdigital?· Take a look at OpenWrt, the hub of this hubbub.
Do anyone want to start a hotspot franchise or use a pair to make wireless repeaters? And there are mesh networds. Try Googling 'Wifidog'.
At the heart of this is needed·a good Wifi card that is commited to Linux. And with 802.11n coming soon, there is an awful lot of equipment that people would like to remove their old wifi '54g' card and replace is with the 'N' card.
One could have a few good years by talking directly to Acer and Asus about 'N' cards.· The volume is here in Asia.
