Memory stick datalogger (#27937) questions
Hi,
I received a datalogger module and am now·writing a Javelin class for it.
I am trying to find out what the datalogger module is capable of.
I downloaded the 2 product documents from
http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/txtSearch/datalogger/List/1/ProductID/434/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2cProductName
The VDAPFirmwareSpec.pdf is a preliminary version (v1.07).
I also have downloaded the Vinculum Firmware User Manual from the FTDI site (v2.1)
Is the VDAPFirmwareSpec.pdf superseeded by the FTDI manual?
I understand the datalogger holds VDAP firmware.
It is mentioned a USB mass storage device (eg. flash disk) is only supported on usb port 2.
Since the datalogger has only 1 usb connector, I assume this is usb port 2. Correct?
It is also mentioned that other usb (FTDI) peripherals are supported on port 1 but
does that mean that port 2 does not support other usb peripherals?
If that is the case I do not need to add support for these devices.
regards peter

I do not believe that is the case. Both USB interfaces should be capable of both Host/Slave modes. Have a look at the following document. Of course the firmware defines much of the functionality, but the whole concept here was to have the ability to do Flash Drive to Flash Drive transfers or be able to access multiple drives. The second port was brought out to pads on the board for this reason. I believe the on-board port (mounted) is port two though. You can see this from within a terminal when a drive is connected by the prompt response. Take care.
