Do you dip components in the solder before placing them on the PCB or is it strictly for tinning?

    Solder pots are·for tinning wires, in a production environment; someone will have batches of wires with stripped ends and dip them (1, 2, 3 at a time, depending)·into some paste flux and then dip them into the molten solder in the solder pot.
