Does anyone have a source for a handheld enclosure that accepts the SX48 protoboard that looks similar to the Pactec model shown below? I have a protoboard ordered and one enclosure, but it looks like I might be needing to trim the board to fit......which I'd like to avoid if there is something else out there to serve my needs.

I have that enclosure... It should fit. I'll check tonight when I get home.

There's nothing like a new idea and a warm soldering iron.

You might give Bopla a try. For styling and quality of fit and finish, these guys are unsurpassed.

Check the Mouser catalog. In the last 25% of the paper catalog.

I've been doing a lot of research lately that also led me to look for project boxes. I was kind of disappointed at the no-frills offerings being displayed in most of the traditional avenues. I found that the 3.5 and 2.5 inch external hard drive enclosures are stylish alternatives. They usually offer some sort of an I/O panel at one end that can be modded or replaced. Some even come with a power supply. Some even have cool lights to steal or use. Plus they're not too much more, cost wise( ~ $20US), considering that most are now made of pressed aluminum or tricked-out plexi. I'm thinking of using one of the 2.5 for a homemade cell phone or PDA type deal. Just a thought. Happy hunting.

The Pactec enclosure pictured above offers plenty of room for the SX proto boards...I must have read the spec. sheet wrong. That's the HPLS enclosure pictured above. However, I'm now thinking of using a 4x20 LCD which won't fit; only a 2x20 display will fit this enclosure.

BTW, Pactec does offer samples of some of their product line www.pactecenclosures.com/free_sample.lfml

    Thanks, Kevin
