i was checking out http://www.parallax.com/dl/docs/cols/nv/vol1/col/nv19.pdf·section on placing BS2 on phone line to dial.· in the schematic, it shows "280V Sidactor" from DigiKey (P3002AB-ND) but when i pull this item up on digikey it says "SIDACTOR 140V SURGE SUP M T0220"·

do you use two P3002AB-ND to get the 280V?

thanks!!

The 'Sidactor' is just there to protect from transient spikes on the phone lines (especially when the phone is ringing). You should be able to use the 140V unit you saw. Bear in mind that there are regulations regarding connection of equipment to telephone lines. Take care.

thanks Chris, so do you think digikey used the same part number (P3002AB-ND) for this lower voltage replacement? and thanks for the heads up on the telephone connection. don't want a visit from the FCC that's for sure! ;)
