Hello all, I am making a simple and cheep power supply for my proto-board. I am plaining on having two outputs a un-regulated +12V, and a regulated +5V. I have a LM3914 to monitor the voltage, but I would like to monitorthe +5V·current usage up to one amp. I have looked on National Semi's·site for a way to use a LM3914 to monitor current. Could someone help

Thanks
TC

If you monitor voltage across a known resistance you can convert the result to current. There are probably chips that do this for you but I don't know of any off the top of my head.

Thank you Stephen, I know I could use a current shunt. but I have found no information anywhere about using a LM3914 as a current sensor. I was trying to see if anyone might have passed by the information.

    Thanks
