Getting started with the SX chips.
Hi,
Right now I'm working with the Propeller and Spin. But have been interested in the SX chips as well.
For someone with no asm experience would the "Exploring SX..." e-book be a good starting place?
Any other books anyone can recommend?
Thanks,
Tony

Tomorrow or the next day we will post a PDF of the first 100+ pages of Jon Williams new book "Practical SX/B". This is what you're waiting for.
Until then, take a look at the SX/B on-line Help file.

Ken Gracey

Never argue with an idiot.· They'll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Yes, of course. It is coming in two halves, though, and the first half is being posted.

At this point it's only a problem with Adobe Acrobat that's delaying us from posting the Practical SX/B book. Once our editor hangs on their support line tomorrow we should be able to solve this problem.
I've read the first chapters of the book and it's really explanatory. You can only learn with this book and Daubach's too.

I can't tell you how much you have exceeded my expectations. About a year ago I was bored in a book store and bought a copy of Nuts and Volts to pass some time. I saw your ad on the back of the magazine and remembered how much I use to love building electronic stuff years ago. So, I read some articles about the BASIC Stamp and decided....why not try it out! I had always wanted to get into building animatronics and other microcontroller type projects. Now, almost a·year later and I'm very glad that I found out about your company.
By the way, really enjoyed the article about you in the recent Make Magazine. I had already read the thread where they quoted you about the Prop Chip, and it really speaks to your dedication to the industry. I live locally and have driven out there many times to pick up new parts, because, some days I just can't wait for the mail.
One such time, I had my 8yr old son with me. Much to my suprise, one of your technicians invited him into the back and let him play with the little bots and the big Parallax sign. He hasn't quit talking about it since and now he's getting interested in all of the projects I'm working on.
I'd be willing to bet, you have influenced more people than you can imagine. For me, it's the little things a company does that earn my loyalty. I love what your company represents and you can be sure I'll be here supporting you.
Take care,
Dan

I'm not scared of your robot. I'm covered by Old Glory (youtube)
I may have to go shop for some fancy paper! I have the spiral binding ready to go!
I got my information wrong.
After going back and looking at the posts I found 2·seperate threads. One of them you introduced me to the Parallax App Mod protocol and you referenced several Nuts n Volts articles.·The other was just prior to the release of SX/B 1.4 (from the threads index) and you were messing around with Serout at speeds around 92K, but there was no mention of how you achieved it (the Parallax AMP or a Uart VP). But you did say in the latter post that Serout speeds were roughly equal to 1/10 th the Crystal or Resonator speed.

I was wondering if you guys are going to post this? I don't see it yet......
