Is there anything special about the Wii controller? Can you make one out of a prop and a 3 axis accelerometer, and make it feel just as good as the wii??? anybody have info or articles on this??

imagine a Wii-style prop controller with broadcast to tv, I don't know if you'd have to have an antenna wire up your arm but hey, the fun it'd be lol :)

Why not actually use the Wii controller? It uses Bluetooth, and Paralla has a bluetooth module...

many people have done it with their computer, now its time to bring the fun to HYDRA :D

The Wii is a very complex controller, high quality accelerometers and a LOT of software and algorithms, so making the controller yourself isn't trivial, but the hard part is making the software, many man years were spent doing the gesture recogition algorithms the Wii SDK has. Anyway, as Paul said, I made a simple mod to the HYDRA controller using one of parallax's 2-axes accelerometers. Works pretty good.
