A simple bending guide for breadboard work

I found this today while clearing up my workshop, I made it ages ago when I had a lot of veroboard circuits to do and wanted to get them neat. The main thing is the use of a single edged rasor for wire stripping, it makes it very accurate and does not stretch the outer. Rolling the wire on a flat surface also helps to straighten it, the bending jig just makes sure it fits everytime. The lines are to make it quicker to find the right row if you know how many holes you are trying to bridge (lines on even numbers).

Of course this jig is only suitable for propeller projects ;)

Gotta make one one of these days. Thanks for the pics.

If you don't like sawing, you can pick up one of these:

Sure, it only goes down to .4 inches, but for anything above that, it's awesome, and cheap. Especially helps with any "odd" lengths that aren't commonly found in jumper kits.

Sir! Asking for permit to use on other than pure Prop projects?

Bergamot, I think they gave something like that away on the cover of practical wireless a long time ago when I was too young to understand (it was my Dad's copy) but the idea stuck with me.

Skogsgurra, ok but don't let "the man" know.

Looks like I am somewhat older. I asked Missus for a piece of plastic like the one in Bergamot's picture. She searched a drawer and found a very similar tool. Yes, orange-red plastic. For wires from .4 to 2.4 inches.

It has the following text: "Presented free with Everyday Electronics. (c) IPC Magazines 1976"

I do not need it now when I made one of yours (in fiber glass epoxy). You may see it on eBay soon smile.gif

Surely if you turned the breadboard over, you wouldn't need those black marker lines. You'd get nice copper markings instead.

The black marker is on every other row!

You could etch every other one off I suppose or you could get a life :)

    Graham,
the GPL doesn't show in your photos. It's on the other side, right?
