Programming SMD SX

Anybody know how to program a SMD SX before soldering them to a board?
If the already programmed SX is then put into a reflow oven, will the program be lost or corrupted?

    William,

the only chance to program the SMD SX before soldering is using a matching adapter. These are available at distributors but pretty expensive. If you have someone on hand who can handle precision mechanic, it might be an idea to construct your own retainer for the chip with contact needles touching the Vdd, Vss, OSC1, OSC2, and MCLR pins.

Programmed chips will not lose information as long as the soldering temperature does not exceed the typical limits.

    Lightfoot,

When you hold the SX down with your thumb, how would you know if the electrical contact was good during the entire download time?

Does the SX-Key read back the program to verify its correctness after the download?
