Anyone out there seen these or even tried them?
Look cheap and usable...

Anyone know how to build the chroma decoder board required to drive these? =)

You'll need more information to get it to work than is provided in the datasheet. It talks about there being many modes but provides no information on how to set the mode.

The site says that it is NTSC,PAL interface. Should bolt right up to the propeller.

Bean, I thought so too but page 6 on the datasheet (unless I am mistaken) and line 9 on page one of the 'Features' indicates otherwise.. =(

Paul I think your right and the datasheet for the interface board has some info, but not sure if that'd be enough for me to figure it out without spending a lot of time on it.. Although I think maybe the 'modes' they are referring to are the horizontal and vertical reverses..

They apparently also offer 'prototyping kits' which include everything for an outrageous price..

    I guess my search continues..

hello all, just to clarify for the HD impaired, a chroma decoder for a "composite" video card is referencing the Y/Pb/Pr composite video interface comonly found on dvd players, playstation 2&3, most newer tv's and almost all LCD tv's, and some computer video cards, which is commonly confused with the monitor (baseband) input or "yellow" jack alot of people also call the composite jack.

As for the chroma decoder board, good luck, most LCD TV makers have their own version and is almost always integrated into some kind of main board costing around a few hundred dollars. The documentation, which looks more like a cobble job than concise even though i just skimmed over it, does state this LCD readily accepts NSTC/PAL/QVGA (Quarter VGA?)((pg5)) signals as well as serial data for control the display.

Not picking on anybody,·just hope this brings a bit of clarity to the thread. Nuthin 4 nothin, mouser has a selection of like ten or so LCD displays this size including non-backlit and OEL and the pdf's for the devices are more informative. They also have a separate line of LCD's parallax used to affiliate on their site 5"x5", had a touchscreen and GUI menu system you could configure 100%. I do remember parallax·selling it, but· i think another company made it, it was like·$300 or $400, mouser still·lists it·very near the front of their catalogs before·all the microcontrollers. oop, there i go rambling.
