Control a lego motor

Hello,

I want to drive a lego motor with a BS2, motor takes approx 500mA,
Can i use this scheme to connect with my BS2?
or do i have to secure it with other components?

    As long as the transistor can handle motor current, you'll be fine. In lieu of other other protection, a diode can be placed around the motor (cathode on +, anode at collector of xistor) to protect the xistor from reverse spikes.
